bar-B-que date

maya, rania & iman
cousins and our aunt; makteh

That Saturday, our plans to laze at ikano became short when we were invited to a small BBQ at my uncle’s home. Pakteh is my mama’s younger brother. Guests were only us, family. And food were all home made.

It was indeed a fun BBQ date but it will be merrier if my parents and my sister were there. Same goes to other family members.

Sara; my 9 year old cousin claims it was ponky day. I don’t even know what ponky day was but Yaya, it was indeed an entertaining ponky day ever!!!!!

I am not so much of a rice eater but I eat bread like there’s no tomorrow. Sebab tu I am MOK-MOK. I love western, Italian, Indian, Japanese, Chinese food among others. Frankly, I don’t really fancy malay food. But I love nasi lemak sambal kerang. Yummers!!!!!

Ever since I got engaged, I started learning to eat durian, petai, masak lemak cili padi, assam pedas and seafood. So seafood is one of my fav food now. Especially CRAB and mammoth sized shrimps. I sometimes begged darling husband to take me out for seafood splendor.

The last time I had mouth-watering splendidly cooked salted egg crab when I was carrying iman. Then the seafood restaurant closed down and that was it. We were indeed depressed. Darling husband and I searched high and low for a seafood restaurant that serves ketam masak telor masin yg best. But to our surprise, we failed to find one till recently.

Finally, a friendly neighbor introduced us to lala chong. And it was the end of our ketam exploration. Lala chong serves the best salted egg ketam ever!

At the age of 35 months, he refused to receive duit raya every time he was offered. I was one disappointed mother every time he was behaving impolitely.

So one day, I was teaching him about how he should behave whenever we have guests at home, that he’s suppose to greet and salam our guests and etc. However, in the midst of my ‘lecture’ he intentionally diverts my attention to…

Iman : mama, iman school have ‘miming pool’ (swimming pool), playground, friends. Iman like school mama. Mama, playground there, got ants because iman scared.

Then,
Iman : mama, mama careful. Mama cooking. Mama put on socks at mama’s hand. Otherwise, mama’s hand pain.

Then,
Iman : mama, just now iman cry. Iman sad. Iman tummy got elephant. Listen iman tummy. Got sound.

How can I not geram? And oh btw, his school teacher award him 10/10 for his social skills. And it was only during his first 10 minutes in school.

It was difficult to say our goodbyes to krabi.

It was one lovely gate-away for the 3 of us. Oh well, it easier said than done to return to reality. Darling husband will go back to work as usual but will be serving a different company and at a location, I am back to being a housewife (not quite a desperate one yet… he he he) and iman will be back in his home with his toys, books and DVDs.

Wish we had more time to spend in krabi.

Since I was a teen, my mama always tells me to keep my life simple. Simplest possible. Simple doesn’t mean boring, she advices. Throughout these years, my mama’s advice kept me grounded.

So today marked 31 years of colorful experiences in my life journal. There were ups and downs, hiccups and break ups, but most of them were happy moments. Alhamdullilah.

So having to celebrate my 31st birthday with my 2 heroes made my day. I am contented. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

mama : no sayang. swimming is over. lets walk.
iman : oh my god mama... (expressing is his frustration and kesian look). iman want go 'miming'. why cannot?
mama : it's gonna be dark soon. you'll be cold in the water too.
iman : 'tumo-row' (tomorrow) miming ok? 'po-mis'?? (promise)

The elephant ride was the much awaited agenda that day. The little dude was anxious, so was his mother. Anything higher than 4 feet, I gayat!!!

The hotel made the arrangement for us. We were bolt from the blue when we saw a strange looking pick up truck waiting for us at the hotel foyer. It was our go-go bat mobile to the safari. Oh well, it was one fun experience indeed.

Enjoy the photos folks. I am too lazy to write.

i am officially THIRTY ONE!

31 already????

I am officially 31 today. theoretically, I will turn 31 at 835pm. He he he…

i am proud of myself that I am officially growing wrinkles around my eyes, not to mention noticeable eye bags and slower metabolism. Blame this lazy old lady who failed to look after herself well.

But these symptoms of old age (and fat!) didn’t stop me from wearing mini skirts, hot pants, low cut tops etc. I am not bothered what people say about me. My family is all that matters. As long as my husband likes how I look and what I wear, I am the happiest wife in the whole wide world.

So, waking up to a breathtaking view, a short morning walk with my 2 heroes and mouth watering breakfast was a good start for 3 of us. We later hit the pool and had so much fun. Seeing iman giggling non stop and having so much fun in the water did strike a chord in my head to take him for a swim when we get home. Since I live in an old fashioned home (no pak guard, no swimming pool, no club house and surrounded with pak haji & mak haji), I had a pang of conscience to continue staying in shah alam. But I still love my big compound at home tho.. mmmph. Takpe, I will take iman to our bird nest for a dip and play in the pool soon.

We were told by the hotel staffs that Koh Lanta Yai’s population is conquered by 80% Muslim. We were indeed relieved that we didn’t have to worry about what to eat and where to dine throughout our stay at the hotel. The hotel provides 2 separate kitchens for halal and non halal cuisines and they have 2 designated head chefs for each shift.

Moreover, the meat & chicken supplies are all HALAL. Ha ha ha… I was the happiest person in the world having known that. Since we didn’t have the intention to dine at anywhere else but the hotel, we didn’t bother to search for local joints. No more hassles for a lookout for halal food!

In addition to that, we heard the azan from our hotel room and spotted 6 to 7 mosques near the hotel. Seriously, I feel very much at home!
