PRATUNAM - day 4

yay... nak balik
@ the airport
whr to?
View all 12 photos...
so, saturday was our last day in bangkok. we wish we had more time. we haven’t done with shopping and visiting yet. so on saturday, we started off very much earlier. we headed to PRATUNAM MARKET, BAIYOKE MALL and PLATINUM FASHION MALL and to look see look see what they have to offer.

looking at the time, we rushed everything in just 2.5 hours before our taxi arrive. luckily, i did some packing before i head to bed the night before.

our taxi arrives at 1245noon. and the ride to bangkok international airport was about 40 minutes. iman managed to get some nap and drink milk on the way there. the trip from the hotel costs us 400baht.

the moment we get to the airport, darling husband and i grabbed some sandwiches and drinks before boarding. it was a splendid trip. and i wish to go there again and again and again; with my mommy girlfriends.

from the program i mapped in my lil journal, darling husband and iman didn’t get to visit the GRAND PALACE, WAT PHRA KAEW OR THE TEMPLE OF THE EMERALD BUDDHA, THE BANGKOK DOLL FACTORY & MUSEUM, SAFARI WORLD/MARINE WORLD, DREAMWORLD and CHATUCHAK MARKET. also, darling husband didn’t get to experience THAI FOOT and BODY MASSAGE.

and oh, we managed to get iman’s other stroller back, the one that went missing when we first landed. it was handed to us when we follow up on the status of our lost of item report. the stroller was kept safely in the airlines’ lost and found office. oh well….

that’s all for now folks. will continue with my next entry soon. i have a demanding child under my care. in addition to that, i have a couple of matters im working on concurrently right now.

cheers

siam paragon shopping center - day 3

the mall
kenyang...
our dinner
View all 6 photos...
after the aquarium treat, darling husband and i were starving. so we ended up having dinner @ a halal food restaurant located in the SIAM PARAGON SHOPPING CENTER.

then, it was time to go back to the hotel. however, we had to reroute our way back to the mall. it was heavy rain and the mall turns very cold. nonetheless, we stayed back for an hour before heading back to the hotel in a tuk tuk. the tuk tuk ride costs 150baht. it was a highly-priced trip and our hotel was only a walking distance from the mall.

that night, the traffic turns from bad to worse. there was a long-tail waiting line at the cabby booth outside the mall. so we had no choice but to ride the tuk tuk.

it was our last night in the land of smiles. in spite of this, we still yet to pack our bits and pieces.

next was a treat for iman. he has been such a darling behaving himself throughout our trip, despite our hectic schedules and hot sizzling weather. so daddy decided to treat him to the SIAM OCEAN WORLD, the largest aquarium in southeast asia located in the new elegant siam paragon shopping centre.

he certainly amazed with the fishes and other creatures featured there. darling husband and i were satisfied when he was all smiley and keyed up. mission accomplished! the aquarium is so much better than aquaria in klcc.

all three of us were attracted to their bottom glass boat ride! darling husband and i highly recommend parents to bring ur kids there!

the entrance fee is 850baht per pax and free for iman.

jim thompson house museum - day 3

after a good rest in bed, we were all geared up for our next destination. a meter taxi was waiting for us at the hotel and charged us 100 baht for 5km destination. however, the traffic was bad and the trip to the museum took us 30 minutes instead of less than 10 minutes journey.

JIM THOMPSON HOUSE MUSEUM was our target. we got there at about 4pm and were in time for the guided tour.

the house museum houses a collection of traditional thai-style houses, fashioned into one dwelling, belongs to the man who helped restore the thai silk industry after world war ii. and today, preserved as a museum, contains a priceless collection of asian objects of art. other than the museum, it also houses a restaurant and bar as well as gift shop and merchandise store.

the admission fee is 100 bath per pax. and free for iman.

upon exiting the museum, ms m texted me telling that she has arrived in the land of smiles. we were supposed to meet up and have dinner at her friend’s house. however, we still have a lot more to do in bangkok. and iman was ill-tempered due to the hot weather. so i had to excuse myself from their girly activities. im keeping my fingers crossed for another trip with the girls soon.

then, we travel in a tuk tuk to another jewelry store and fabric shop. we managed to run off with a few. tee he he he…

wat po - day 3

the reclining buddha

View all 26 photos...
then, we proceed to the one of the most famous temple. WAT PO. it is also known as wat phra chetuphon, is located behind the splendid temple of the emerald buddha. it's the largest temple in bangkok and famed for its huge and majestic reclining buddha measured 46 meters long and covered in gold leaf. the buddha's feet are 3 metres long and exquisitely decorated in mother-of-pearl illustrations of auspicious characteristics of the buddha.

in my previous trips, there was a traditional thai massage centre within the compound of the temple. and my family and i would have a superb body massage before heading to our destination. it cost us around 120 baht for half an hour or 200 baht per hour.

this time however, we overlooked the centre and left the temple without a massage. my feet was aching and screaming for it. too bad. hopefully there’ll be next time. tee he he he…

our initial plan was to visit the grand palace, located 2 blocks away from wat po. unfortunately, it was pass iman’s nap time. he was grumpy and started crying for sleep and milk. when my son is grumpy, i became grumpier. so we decided to return to the hotel and skip the grand palace.

so, we hopped on a meter taxi that costs us 150 baht. iman fell asleep on the way back. the moment we reach the hotel, i didn’t wait any minute and jump into the bathtub and soak my self in warm water. then i prepare hot water and rest my aching feet in it for 30 minutes. i was really looking forward to a foot massage!!!

wat betchamabophit dusitwanaram ratchaworawiharn - day 3

we started our day so much earlier today. we wanted to visit a few temples again and the grand palace. so the hotel arranged a tuk tuk to take us thr. before arriving at our initial destination, we were brought to another jewelry store. my boys were there just to look see look see what they have in store. i on the other hand, gatal tangan nak beli. he he he. and the rest is history.

so next stop, was WAT BETCHAMABOPHIT DUSITWANARAM RATCHAWORAWIHARN. it is an old temple dating to the ayutthaya period, and was previously known as WAT LAEM or WAT SATHONG. in 1872, the name was changed to BECHAMABOPHIT which means the temple of 5 princes. Then, in 1899, the name was changed again, to BECHAMABOPHIT DUSIT WANARAM, which means the temple of the fifth king.

the temple’s obusot was built of marbles from italy inside is the buddha image by imitating phra phutthachinarat at phitsanulok province.

btw, the entrance fee was 50 baht per pax and free for iman

pat pong night market - day 2

it was 800pm when we hired a meter taxi to go to PAT PONG NIGHT MARKET. there were many stalls set up along silom and suriwongse roads where you could find elcheapo fake branded items, cds, souvenirs, t-shirts, etc. the market open from daily from 6.00pm to 1.00am.

along the market, there were also scores of strip bars which home she-male strippers/dancers. looking at the growing rowdy crowd, we decided to cut off some time at the market. we don’t want iman to be exposed to immoral night activities that most tourists fancy in the land of smiles.

i still remember the first time i had a glimpse of the strippers performing in the pubs along the patpong night market. i was barely a teenager and my lil brother was slightly older than a toddler. only my mischievous lil sister was eager to peep what’s in the pub. aha ha ha....

the market then, was so much better than it is now. they used to sell good quality handicrafts and unique fine souvenirs. however, it came to my surprise that the market now only sells fake branded items. we only stumble upon three or four craft stalls.

so, we went home not empty handed but with something hand-made, made of timber for our home. but before that, we made a stop over at a local snack café for a late night snack to recharge our batteries, since we only had some light food for dinner. despite of our back to back agenda, iman was still wide awake and there was no sign of him slowing down.

at 1110pm, we finally decided to go home in a taxi meter. the taxi driver charged us 150 baht for a 20 minutes ride.

after a long day of visiting, iman only slept past midnight that night!

as we reached our hotel, we had 2 hours unoccupied. so daddy, ibu and i had some rest. it was a tiring day indeed.

whilst daddy taking his bath, ibu preparing my dinner, i watched news on aljazeera. i managed to know what many people around the globe thrash out about. one of them was all the hoo-haa about the latest sodomy scandal in malaysia that has taken the world by storm, yet again!

how gross! he's one sick old man!
